Flight Descrition
As the experiment was set up and we told the test directors we were ready I pick as spot on the floor and lay down. I griped a strap in each hand and stared at the 900 on the ceiling. Gravity start to increase and then John called out the we had hit the worse part. Then the gravity started to lessen. The lights came on and my flight suit stopped pushing against me. My legs came up slowly then my body came up too. Just a little because I held on with me hands. It was quickly over and the 2G's were forcing me back down. The second time I floated up and looked at Robbie and our box.
The experience of floating and bounce off the walls was amazing. In zero g's I would just come straight up and unless I held on to something I would just bounce or move out of control. My clothes would just float and not hang as normal. 2Gs pulled down on me. I could feel my cheeks being pulled down as I lay on the floor. I tried sitting up but it felt uncomfortable. I went with the laying down strategy. Moving any body parts felt weird because I weight almost 250lbs. In zero g I float over the box, push off, and played with Mr. G (our stuff animal toy). I could float up and upside down, it was hard to move in a direction without pushing or pulling on the cabin of the plane. Working the experiment was fun. Constraining on something made the flight better. I popped some balloons and got some nice drops. After we popped all our balloons I enjoyed the rest of the flight.
I float up and moved around the cabin, looked out the window ( the plane was at quite a strange angle) throw Mr G to Robbie and back.
Martian and Lunar were really weird too. We were able to float and bounce, but at the same time were pulled down very slowly. Walking was very wierd and disconcerting. My muscle were not tuned to such limited gravity.
I did not feel motion sick. It was just lots of fun to have six degrees of freedom. It was wierd when we went back to 1 G. Walking and moving felt strange for hours after the flight in 1G. The landing was rough, and it was great realizing no one got sick. We were thirteen very happy students. Leaving the plane and going to get our picture taken was great. It was also sad to be done. As it was ending I was sad to knew I would probably never experience weightlessness again, and nothing will every come close to floating freely around inside the KC-135. Many thanks to all the people that made this possible.
