This paper presents a review of the blade-vortex interaction (BVI) phenomenon. It covers both analytical and experimental studies of two-dimensional parallel airfoil-vortex interaction, three dimensional BVI's , and helicopter rotor BVI's. The important parameters that effect BVI airloads are discussed.
